RULES

 Revised: 12/5/20

Welcome to GForce Racing Leagues

We are a group that are passionate about racing and strive to provide a well-managed, adrenalin pumping, wheel-to-wheel racing experience with high standards of race-craft, clean racing and drivers that show respect to their fellow competitors with an emphasis on camaraderie and a community environment. Members know that they are a part of something bigger than just the on-track experience.

Our league is based on 3 principles that have made it successful.

  1. We are a community based league.  A large proportion of our drivers are actively involved in the league, from Executive, Review Committee, Admining Races, Advisory committees and many other volunteer activities.  We also run Charity Races every season and have raised over $4,000 for organizations such as Disabled Veterans, Soldier On, Make a Wish and the Steve King Foundation.
  2. While we have live Admins managing every Race, races are reviewed and penalties assigned by a Volunteer Review Committee.  Every incident is reviewed by 3 individuals independently, resulting in a consistent and fair assignment of Penalties the following week.
  3. We use iL (incidents per Lap) to ensure clean competitive Racing.  Drivers must maintain an iL below 0.250 (1 incident per 4 laps) or less for some DIvisions.  Race results include bonus points for incident free races and deduct points for incidents.  This system has provided some of the best and cleanest racing on the iRacing service.

If you are looking for other racers that enjoy racing without all the drama and name calling of normal iRacing, come out and join us.  We race Sunday to Thursday and currently broadcast 3 Divisions.

GForce Racing Leagues

Rules

The GForce Racing Leagues currently supports 305, 360, 410 Dirt Winged Sprint Cars, Big Block Modifieds, 358 Modifieds, Midgets, Street Stocks, and a Skip Barber Asphalt Series.

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Have a Safety Rating over 1.00
  • Have a Minimum “D” Dirt License
  • Read and adhere to the iRacing Sporting Code and the GForce Sporting Code (this document).  Drivers are accountable for the letter and the spirit of both rule sets.
  • A Headset and Microphone are Mandatory to Race & Practice.
  • A Steering Wheel and Pedals are Mandatory - No Joystick or mouse for steering (unless you are physically challenged).

Always race drivers the way you want to be raced and be respectful. We all race for fun. We all make mistakes. Everyone gets caught up in other’s mistakes. It is extremely unlikely that the other driver was intentionally trying to ruin your night. Accept it and move on. The high emotions that are a normal part of close racing do not justify verbally abusive or other inappropriate expressions toward officials or other racers.

Disrespectful communications, including foul or threatening language and insults, will not be tolerated in the GForce Racing Leagues.

  • First occurrence - Chat Muted plus 1 week Chat Mute
  • Second occurrence - 2 Week Chat Mute.
  • Third occurrence - Chat Mute for balance of season.

Race Communications

Good communication is essential to good race craft and incident free racing.

  • After 10 minutes of Practice, all cars are required to remain in the pits for a Driver's Meeting before Qualifying.
  • If anyone goes on the track before the meeting is over they will be given an EOL (End of Line) in their Heat for the first occurrence and disqualification for the next.
  • All Race Communications - Use the iRacing channel only.
  • For General Talking - Use Discord.  Refer to our webpage for installation instructions
  • https://gforcerl.com/discord
  • No chat during qualifying.
  • Keep chatter to a minimum during races.
  • Discuss incidents when the race is over.
  • Once a caution flag flies, the only chat permitted will be the leader calling out the location of the pace vehicle, drivers taking credit for causing the caution or drivers calling out a stopped or slowed car on the racing surface.
  • Always announce when Pitting IN and Pitting Out.

Pit Notes

Pit Notes are typically released the day before the race on our GForce Driver Communication Facebook group page. They will contain Penalties to be applied that week. They may also include Hot Shoe and other important League information.

YOU ARE RESPONSIBLE TO READ THE PIT NOTES

Races

Unless otherwise stated, each race will be comprised of:

  • 45 Drivers max. (The first 45 to enter the Race).
  • 10 Minute Practice.
  • Mandatory Driver's Meeting at end of Practice.
  • 3 Minute Qualifying.
  • 3-5 Heats - 8 Laps, Top 4 Inverted, Top 4 Transfer to Feature from each Race.
  • “B” Main- 10 Laps, Top 4-12 Transfer to A Main.
  • 5 Minute Warmup.
  • “A” Main Feature 25 - 40 laps.
  • No Black Flags cleared.
  • No Wave Arounds
  • There will be 1 Fast Repair.
  • Caution Laps Count.
  • There are also 2 Green-White-Checkers if necessary.
  • Top 3 Drivers must line up at the Start-Finish Line for a Podium Shot.  Failure to do so will result in an EOL in their next Feature.  Second instance will result in Suspension.
  • If Broadcast, Top 3 Drivers must also enter the Discord Broadcast Waiting Room to be interviewed. Failure to do so will result in an EOL in their next Feature.  Second instance will result in Suspension.

Starts/Restarts

  • All starts, the Leader goes on green.
  • All restarts go on Leader and restart location will be dependent on which track we’re racing at.
  • Check Pit Notes for info.
  • Maintain a speed of 35 mph.
  • Do not make contact with other cars. This will cause incident (and penalty) points and may result in an EOL.
  • Laying Back Will Not Be Tolerated.
  • Absolutely no passing before the green. Imagine an orange cone being at the start/finish line.

Cautions

  • LIFT OFF THE THROTTLE!  You Can Not improve your position as iRacing determines this.
  • Use your Relative screen F3 - Pay attention and know your surroundings while under caution.

Lapped Traffic

  • Lapped cars hold your line and let the leaders work by you.
  • Do Not Make It Difficult for lead lap cars to pass!
  • Use your Relative Screen F3.
  • It is your responsibility to know the racing situation.

General Rules & Tips

Do

  • Use the Relatives black box (F3) when exiting the pits or re-entering the track.
  • Rejoin the track parallel to the racing line, yielding to oncoming traffic.
  • Keep in-race communication to an absolute minimum and maintain silence during gridding.
  • Lock your brakes immediately if you lose control of your car.
  • Observe blue flags and yield to lapping cars as soon as it is safe to do so.
  • Employ a spotter to help you observe the corner rights of others.
  • Participate in our Discord channel

Do Not

  • Put other racers in jeopardy when exiting the pits or rejoining the track.
  • Clutter communication channels with non-critical messages during qualifying, gridding and racing.
  • Let your car drift and roll freely in the event of an accident. Hold your brakes. Your number one priority in an accident is to not collect anyone else.
  • Race/impede lapping traffic.
  • Mute the iRacing voice chat or otherwise cut yourself off from communication.
  • Stop/slow on the racing line unnecessarily. Even if you think the session is over, it’s always best to avoid hindering traffic that may still be racing by not slowing down until the backstraight.
  • Lash out at other drivers in-session or in Discord. This will not be tolerated and will be penalized. If you feel you were the victim of an incident where another driver was at fault, file a protest after the race

Blinking

Drivers are required to maintain a consistent connection to the iRacing.com session server.

Drivers who warp, blink, or bounce are subject to penalty.

Any time a driver is warned that his/her connection quality is poor, that driver must drop to the back of the pack and if the connection quality does not improve that driver is expected to pull their vehicle to pit road.

Failure to obey will result in Disqualification and possible suspension.

If there is a discrepancy on the finish, checkered flag determines the finish.

Scoring

1st -75    9th -56   17th -40

2nd-72  10th -54   18th -38

3rd -69 11th -52   19th -36

4th -66 12th -50   20th -34

5th -64 13th -48   21st -32

6th -62 14th -46   22nd -30

7th -60 15th -44   23rd -28

8th -58 16th -42   24th -26

Bonus Points

Qualifying: 5,4,3,2,1 for top 5.

Complete 75% of Race: 5

Hard Charger: 5

Finish with Zero Incidents: 5

Fast Lap: 1

Thanks for showing up! (Didn't make Feature): 20

Penalty Points

Minus 1 Point for each Incident Point.

Once you reach 15 incident points in the Feature, you will automatically be disqualified from that event.

Incidents per Lap (iL)

All incidents will be counted from Heats, Mains and Feature.

Drivers need to maintain an average less than 0.250 incidents per lap run (equal to 10 incidents in a 40 lap race).   Renegades need to maintain an iL under 0.200 and Rebels need to maintain an iL under 0.225

Your iL can be found on the Results Pages. Think of iL as the league's Safety Rating.

A high iL suggests that you lack good car control (RaceCraft) and/or you're driving too aggressively!!!

Your iL must be under 0.500 after 2 races, under 0.400 after 3 races and under 0.300 after 5 races or you will be demoted or removed.

Hot Shoe Rule

If a driver wins 2 consecutive A Main events in a Division, that driver shall be put into the 24th starting position. Should that driver win the A Main from 24th position he will be given a 25 Point Bonus for that event and once again be placed on the Hot Shoe list for the next event.

This will continue until he does not win the “A” Main.

Standings

Scoring will be tracked using iRacing League Manager Software and can be found on the GForce Racing Leagues website www.gforceRL.com

All point ties in the top 5 will be decided by most Wins, 2nds, 3rds, etc until the tie is broken.

There are 2 drop weeks in each Division for the season.

Driver Numbers

We will allow variations of the same number.  Similar to how Sprint Racing allows letters (ie. 47x), we will allow a Prefix (ie. 1-47, 2-47).  These would be registered in our league as 147, 247.  The actual paint on the car could display the first number at one half height (minimum) as the other numbers (similar to the World of Outlaws Rules).

You must display the number you’ve been assigned in the league or points will not count for the night.

Mandatory contrasting numbers (no black on black scheme etc)

Members who miss a full season will be removed from the league and lose the right to their number on their return.

Reinstatement - Upon returning allowed to choose any 2 or 3 digit number not already assigned

iRating

Your iRating must be below 2000 to be eligible for the GForce Outlaw League.

Once members are in the league, their iRating is Grandfathered and there is no upper limit.  However, if a member leaves or does not race for a full season without previous arrangements, they will no longer be eligible to return if their iRating is over 2000.

End of Season

At the end of each season there will be reassignments to re-balance the Divisions.  It will be based on:

  1. iL (incidents per Lap)
  2. Overall points
  3. A minimum of 5 races participated in.

GForce Elite will be comprised of:

  1. Top 20 Drivers from previous season’s Elite Series
  2. Top 5 Drivers from Elite Qualifiers with iL below 0.250
  3. Top 5 Drivers from Renegades not already in Elite (up to P10) with iL below 0.250
  4. Top 5 Drivers from Elite Shoot-Out with iL below 0.250
  5. Up to 5 Provisionals

The Renegades Division will be comprised of:

  1. The top 25 Drivers who have participated in at least 5 races and have an iL below 0.200
  2. 5 Rebels Division Drivers that qualify to move up to Renegades.
  3. 5 Provisional Drivers (TBD)
  4. Provisionals added through the season to help keep the 4 Divisions balanced.

Rebels Division will be comprised of:

  1. Drivers being demoted from Renegades
  2. Current Drivers who have participated in at least 5 races and have an iL below 0.225
  3. 5 Raiders Division Drivers that qualify to move up to Rebels.
  4. Provisionals added through the season to help keep the 4 Divisions balanced.

Raiders Division will be comprised of:

  1. Drivers being demoted from Rebels
  2. Current Drivers who have participated in at least 5 races and have an iL below 0.250
  3. Provisionals added through the season to help keep the 4 Divisions balanced.

Rustlers Division will be comprised of:

  1. Drivers from Raiders who have an iL over 0.250
  2. New Drivers that have passed Probation
  3. All other “Approved” Drivers.

Please Note!

Drivers must move up a Division if they are eligible at the end of the season.

At mid season, they can refuse to move up a Division, but will then be ineligible for transfers each week.

Penalty Points System

In order to maintain high levels of racing, a penalty point system is in place that both restricts promotion, and causes demotion. The system is as follows:

Points Awarded

Heat EoL - 1 Point

Feature EoL - 2 Points

Suspension - 3 Points

Implications

If at the end of a 10 week season a driver has accumulated 6-8 penalty points, the driver will not be eligible for promotion.  There are no drop weeks for Penalty Points.

If at the end of a 10 week season a driver has accumulated 9 or more points, the driver will be automatically demoted or removed from the league.

Protests and Reviews

We have a large Review Committee composed of dedicated Drivers who have volunteered their time.  All Reviews and Protests are reviewed by at least 3 members, resulting in a consistent, fair review.

No incident will be reviewed during the race. Accept it and move on.  Remember that in racing, accidents happen. The primary intent of the protest system is to  give the at-fault member an opportunity to learn and grow as a driver. It also gives league officials the ability to identify patterns and issues before they become a larger problem.

If after the race you still feel strongly about the incident, please copy and complete the following information and submit within 48 hours.
